Absolutely HAB

Office Snacks

About 3 or 4 o’clock I get hungry. It doesn’t matter what I had for lunch but I am hungry. And sometimes (gasp) I don’t plan ahead. If I pack my lunch, then I usually have an apple, banana, cottage cheese or SOMETHING leftover. When I don’t plan, I start thinking about going to the student union, where I KNOW I will get something unhealthy and overspend. Here are some lifesavers that have helped me stay on my weightloss track, not spend extra money and some items that have a relatively long shelf life.

These either require hot water or a microwave. For the hot water, I use this bad boy I got from the fiance for Christmas. For the other stuff, I use the office microwave…which is up the stairs and across the building.

Oatmeal: Make sure you either have low sugar or something in the 100 calorie range. The stuff really doesn’t go bad, so if you have it in your drawer for awhile, you’ll be good to go. Keep something with a flavor in it (apples and cinnamon, maple, etc.) The flavored ones will not require you to add anything extra.

Popcorn: Be careful, because you can easily break your calorie budget right here. My favorite is the 94% fat free Kroger brand (yes Kroger and not any of the others.) You can eat the WHOLE bag for 1 Weight Watcher Point - that’s about 60 calories. Just be careful, I am never graceful while eating this stuff.

Hot Tea: I really like the Constant Comment flavor by Bigelow. Be sure you have sweetener or you’ll just be disappointed!

Campbell’s Soup at Hand: The flavors to choose from are: Chicken Noodle, Chicken and Stars, Vegetable Beef and Vegetable. All have about 100 calories or less and are only 1 Weight Watcher point.

100 Calorie packs are always a good option, but 1. they do go stale and 2. you may tend to eat more than one pack….just be careful.

Happy eating at your desk…IF you are allowed :)
