Absolutely HAB

My faves at the moment…

Here are a few things that I am loving right now.

I could drink this stuff.

The return of the Starbucks Peppermint Mocha Latte!!! (okay it never really leaves, but people look at you funny when you order it in July….yes, I am guilty of that - and yes, I still order it this way- grande, nonfat peppermint mocha, with one pump peppermint, one pump mocha, one sweet n low and one equal, no whip, red sprinkles…do they still do those?)

This shirt  in navy and these boots….both super cute with a jean skirt, leggings, jeans, etc. And yes, you can mix navy and black. I am wearing with a denim skirt, black tights and black boots.

This in elegant rouge, looks so pretty on. I don’t know how to pronounce it and probably paid too much for it, but I love the color and feel elegant while I wearing it.

If you are needing a new fragrance for a holiday gift (like when I wanted Electric Youth back in 1990) THIS COACH Poppy is a great choice. I am still a COACH girl at heart. I could totally use the purse spray…. And yes, I still love the original too.

And what am I really loving right now? This guy. Heart him and his mustache.

Hope everyone has a Happy Thanksgiving!

Owl Dress!

Quite possibly the cutest owl item you should own.

Hello Again

Hi, my name is Holly and I am a bad blogger. (Let’s be honest I am not even a blogger at this point).

So I’m having a reality check with my New Year’s resolutions. I wanted to run one 5k a month for the entire year - that would mean 12 total. Well, I skipped a few months due to scheduling conflicts of weddings, showers, and REALLY hot weather. I’m making up for it though. I have 5 left to do before the end of the year.

I figure I can do 2 in October, 2 in November and 1 in December. Wish me luck!

“Mint will take over.”

So about a month ago, my boo and I were at the Farmer’s Market. We decided to get some herbs to grow on our patio. We decided on basil, chives and mint. Since our purchases, we’ve had SEVERAL people tell us that the mint will “take over.” SEVERAL. So it got me thinking…”how else can I use mint besides in Mojitos?”

Here’s my lo-calorie answer.

Make this the way the package indicates.

Then add some FROZEN raspberries (you can use fresh, but the frozen acts as ice).

Then cut up your mint and add to the top.

The longer you wait before you drink, the longer the mint flavor will “take over.”

A delicous and VERY lo calorie treat!

You can also kick it up a notch and add some vodka or some white wine. I added the Black Box riesling and it was a very refreshing treat - the modern Bartles and James.

How would you use all of the mint that “takes over?”

Office Snacks

About 3 or 4 o’clock I get hungry. It doesn’t matter what I had for lunch but I am hungry. And sometimes (gasp) I don’t plan ahead. If I pack my lunch, then I usually have an apple, banana, cottage cheese or SOMETHING leftover. When I don’t plan, I start thinking about going to the student union, where I KNOW I will get something unhealthy and overspend. Here are some lifesavers that have helped me stay on my weightloss track, not spend extra money and some items that have a relatively long shelf life.

These either require hot water or a microwave. For the hot water, I use this bad boy I got from the fiance for Christmas. For the other stuff, I use the office microwave…which is up the stairs and across the building.

Oatmeal: Make sure you either have low sugar or something in the 100 calorie range. The stuff really doesn’t go bad, so if you have it in your drawer for awhile, you’ll be good to go. Keep something with a flavor in it (apples and cinnamon, maple, etc.) The flavored ones will not require you to add anything extra.

Popcorn: Be careful, because you can easily break your calorie budget right here. My favorite is the 94% fat free Kroger brand (yes Kroger and not any of the others.) You can eat the WHOLE bag for 1 Weight Watcher Point - that’s about 60 calories. Just be careful, I am never graceful while eating this stuff.

Hot Tea: I really like the Constant Comment flavor by Bigelow. Be sure you have sweetener or you’ll just be disappointed!

Campbell’s Soup at Hand: The flavors to choose from are: Chicken Noodle, Chicken and Stars, Vegetable Beef and Vegetable. All have about 100 calories or less and are only 1 Weight Watcher point.

100 Calorie packs are always a good option, but 1. they do go stale and 2. you may tend to eat more than one pack….just be careful.

Happy eating at your desk…IF you are allowed :)
